Materials
Materials used for cover in picture were: Red
and white yarn: CASSIOPEIA by Schachenmayer Nomotta; Black yarn: Sirdar
snowflake chunky; Yellow: Sirdar Bonus DK, used doubled. All yarns are available
from www.blacksheepwools.com
You can use any chunky yarn, but the fleecy type ones will
give a much fluffier and smoother blanket as it is worked entirely in garter
stitch.
Please work off
yardage rather than weight, as Snowflake is very light and yardage for 25g
is the same as the yardage of 50g of Cassiopeia. I used 3 balls of red, 2
white, one black and a scrap of DK. If using snowflake throughout, in the red
and white, you will still need only 3 balls of red and 2 white.
150g chunky yarn in red (yardage:180m) (US: Bulky)
100g chunky yarn in white (yardage:120m) (US: Bulky)
25g chunky yarn in black (yardage:40m) (US: Bulky)
20g DK yarn in bright yellow (use doubled) (US: Light
Worsted)
5.5mm needles (US 9, UK 5)
Row counter (vital to keep count of rows in fleece yarn!)
Shirring elastic for hat
